Krishna Explains Kaliyuga To Pandavas

As per Shrimad Bhagavad on the ninth day of the Mahabharata war between the Pandavas and the Kauravas, the third yuga which is the Dwapar Yuga had ended and the last yuga which is the Kali yuga had begun. However, because of the power of lord Krishna, Kali could not spread throughout the earth and was restricted to the battlefields and war grounds. Although the full effect of Kali yuga, started after the demise of Shri Krishna, Krishna knew very well what would Kali Yuga bring along. As per the Uddhava Gita and Shrimad Bhagavatam, Once the four Pandavas Arjuna, Bheema, Nakul and Sahadeva asked Krishna, What is Kali Yuga? ". Krishna smiled and said "Let me demonstrate to you, the situation of Kaliyuga." He took a bow and four arrows and shot them in four directions and ordered the four Pandavas to go and bring them back. Each of the four Pandavas went in the four different directions to search for the arrows.

The eight incarnation of Vishnu is often debated to be between Krishna and his elder brother Balarama. But because Balaram, is an incarnation of Adi Shesha – the serpert of Vishnu, Krishna is collectively accepted as the eight incarnation of Vishnu. Krishna - one of the most widely popular of all Indian divinities, became the focus of numerous bhakti (devotional) cults, which have over the centuries produced a wealth of religious poetry, music, and painting. The basic sources of Krishna’s stories is from the epic Mahabharata and Bhagvat Purana.

Krishna was raised as a cowherd in Gokul. Childhood of Lord Krishna is filled with stories of his mischievous pranks and incidents that depict his divine nature. According to a popular story, Krishna carried off the gigantic serpent Kaliya from the river to the sea. Sri Krishna also raised the Govardhana hill with his little finger and kept it as an umbrella to shield Vrindavan’s s people from the torrential rain caused by Lord Indra, who was irritated by Krishna. He was popular among the Gopis of Vrindavan, especially Radha. Radha and Lord Krishna grew up together and their story is romanticized as Rasa-lila. During his boyhood, due to unexpected events the news confirming that Krishna was indeed the son of Devaki and Vasudev broke out and Krishna had to leave to Mathura, leaving behind his other family of Nanda and Yashoda. On his return to Mathura, he slayed Kansa and restored his father to power.

Sri Krishna became a counselor and friend to Pandava prince Arjuna. As the war progressed, Arjuna was moved by the deaths of his family members, when he put down his weapon, Lord Krishna then advised him about the battle and its repercussions, Karma, the purpose of life and death, the power of Dharma. This conversation between Lord Krishna and Arjuna soon extended to into a discourse which was later brought together as the Bhagvad Gita. Sri Krishna also revealed his universal form (Vishwa rupa) to Arjuna, showing Arjuna his full spiritual realization. After this, Arjuna became Sri Krishna’s disciple, not just an admirer and relative.

The Divine Story Of Krishna's Birth - Krishna Janmashtami

Janmashtami, also known as Krishna Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, is a major Hindu festival in India and celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna, who happened to be the eighth incarnation or avatar of Lord Vishnu, the supreme God of the Hindus.

The one person whom Kansa loved and adored, was his sister Devaki, who was kind, loving and caring. Devaki’s marriage was fixed with a noble man named Vasudev. Once Devaki and King Vasudev were married, Kans decided that he would drive them home himself. He would honor them with a royal courtesy as per the traditions of the time. As Kans sat down on the chariot to drive them home, he heard a divine voice. The voice that came from the thundering sky announced “Oh Kansa why are you so happy? Beware the sister you love so much will give birth to son who will destroy you.  The eighth son born to Devaki will kill you”. On hearing this Kansa burst into a rage.  He said he would slay his sister before she gives birth to her eighth child.  Vasudev begged Kansa, not to kill Devaki. He explained it is not justified for him to kill his own sister on her wedding day. He asked if he would spare Devaki’s life.
